As master blaster Sachin Tendulkar completed 40, his fans expressed their love and admiration for the cricketing icon through popular social networking site Facebook.
Facebook pages of Tendulkar fans sported a festive look with hundreds of posts and pictures wishing Sachin Tendulkar many happy returns of the day.
Most pages posted the picture of Sachin Tendulkar and his wife Anjali cutting a 5kg birthday cake at the ITC Sonar Kolkata Wednesday.
Some found a unique way of wishing their hero on his birthday. A collage with pictures of the record-breaking cricketer from different periods of his career along with a birthday wish on the page "Sachin Tendulkar Fans" had 514 likes and counting.
The same page also had an innovative comic strip with Ravindra Jadeja and Chris Gayle wishing Tendulkar a happy birthday that attracted more than 1300 likes.
A fan posted on Facebook fan page urging Sachin "to score an impressing score" on his birthday.
Another post from a Sachin fan said: "When one looks at Sachin Tendulkar on the field, joy, zest and passion seem to overflow from every act of the man. It is as if time's arrow had tarried, waiting for the incredible magic to unfold, when Tendulkar had made his way into the ground for the first time. He seems to have remained perpetually at that age of innocence, carrying with him the ecstasy of playing the game for the first time."
The fan pages did not step back from addressing him as "God". In keeping with their reverence for the star cricketer, many Tendulkar fans changed their Facebook profile pictures or cover photos or both.
Every fan page on Sachin Tendulkar reiterarted just one thing - "Respect".
Twitter also saw equal enthusiasm from both the general twitter users as well as the twitteratti for Tendulkar's birthday.
